Balez 2 Madrasah

Opened in 2021 when the village's new imam picked up classes a previous imam had been forced to abandon. It gives the young people of Balez a supportive place to learn their faith, and keeps a hard-won community resource alive.

Opened 2021 in Elbasan, Albania, for children aged 12 to 18. Classes are held in the village mosque and taught by Marjus Krraba, one of the teachers supported through Rahma Mercy's madrasah programme in the Balkans.

From Marjus Krraba's annual report for the Islamic Education Centres of Rahma Mercy, academic year 2025–26: 17 pupils took part in the class.

• 11 on Level 1 of Manhaj an-Nasihah
• 6 on Level 2 of Manhaj an-Nasihah
• 13 learning to read with the Qaida
• 4 studying Tajweed
• 4 reading the Qur'an

£2,700 sponsors the madrasah for the year September 2026 to September 2027. It covers:

• The teacher's wages for the year
• Rent for the classroom, where the madrasah needs one
• A uniform and books for every pupil
• A monthly incentive: €30 a month for the madrasah, which the teacher spends on treats for the children
• End-of-year exams, with prizes for the pupils

£225 covers one month. Sponsor the whole year and the madrasah carries your name on this page, or give any amount and it goes into the same pot.

The Madrasah Vali team visits Balez 2 on the October 2026 trip to hand over the first round of food packs; photographs from that visit are published here afterwards. The teacher's next annual report, covering the sponsored year, follows in summer 2027.

Until then the 2025–26 report is here in full: download the teacher's report (PDF), or see the madrasah's page on Rahma Mercy's site.
