The children's £1,700 for Albania
The 17 children travelling to Albania are raising £1,700 for gifts for 120 students and 10 teachers at the madrasah in Golem — and handing every gift out themselves. Their Daal Chawal sale is done; next comes their Bake Sale on Wednesday 21 October. Every gift on this page goes straight onto the £1,700.

Next up is the children's Bake Sale on Wednesday 21 October. And you can back them any time with a gift below — every penny goes onto the £1,700.
How the children are raising it
Daal Chawal sale · done
The children's first initiative: home-cooked daal chawal at £7 a portion, ordered online and packed and handed out by the children at Madrasah Vali on Friday 16 October. A generous parent paid for all the ingredients, so the children kept 100% of the profit: the full £7 of every portion went onto the £1,700, and buyers gifted portions to the homeless too.
Bake Sale · Wednesday 21 October
4:45pm – 5:15pm at Issa Hikmah Centre, at the two main parent pickup points. Separate sale points for males and females. 100% of proceeds go towards the £1,700.

Why the children are doing this
On Wednesday 28 October our group visits the madrasah next to our second hotel in Golem, Albania. Its students are putting on a jalsah for our children, and we want to arrive with something for every one of them: a gift pack for each of the 120 students, and a food pack plus a cash gift for each of the 10 teachers.
The 17 children travelling are raising the £1,700 themselves. Here in Blackburn they sold and packed daal chawal, and next they are baking for the Bake Sale. In Albania they pack the gifts on the ground and give them out with their own hands.
